County Media hires Loyalist grad as first employee
Here’s the media release I sent out after I officially hired my first full-time employee last week. Welcome, Caitlin!
Prince Edward County, ON – A Loyalist College graduate has become the first full-time employee at the Bloomfield, Ontario, based company, County Media. Caitlin Wilkins of Belleville will start her position as coordinator of online communities on January 3rd.
“I’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this since graduating last June,” said Wilkins, who currently holds a sales job at a Belleville retail outlet.
“There aren’t many opportunities like this around the Quinte area, so this means a lot to me.”
As coordinator of online communities, Wilkins will coordinate activities on the twitter, facebook, YouTube, LinkedIn and other social media platforms of County Media and its clients.
The full time position at County Media was made possible in part through a Career Focus grant from the Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporations and the federal Minister of Industry.
“I am thrilled to be able to employ Caitlin,” said Jennifer Lester Mulridge, chief catalyst at County Media.
“While I’ve hired people before, it was always on a freelance basis. Hiring a full time employee for the first time means my young company is growing – and I can give a young person the chance to grow professionally.”
Wilkins beat candidates from Carleton and York universities for the position.
The position will have Wilkins working full time from the County Media office in Bloomfield January 3 – March 31, 2010.
Jennifer Lester Mulridge is a media professional, emerging guru of online publishing and chief catalyst at County Media.
