Web host, NetFirms, makes an apology

Submitted by Jennifer on July 31, 2010 – 9:58 amNo Comment

In case you’ve noticed, the Web sites I run here and elsewhere (http://Mertens4Mayor.com, http://thelestergroup.ca/villeneuve, http://GhanaCoop4Women.com, http://OurSecretWedding.com…) have been intermittently down since Monday. I choose to believe that these were one-time hiccups. Here’s what my host, NetFirms, out of Toronto, has to say about it.

Netfirms Community,

Over the course of the past few months we have been migrating you out of our old datacentre and moving you into our newly built facility with our timeline for completion being Sunday August 1, 2010.

Yesterday (July 29) during our migration we experienced a hardware failure resulting in inaccessibility to view or upload to your websites.   We immediately restored the data with a backup.  With this downtime and into today (July 30), our Support Centre has been receiving higher than normal phone calls resulting in longer hold times.

We are in the last leg of our migration plan which involves the remaining 2% of our customer base left to be moved.

This coming weekend we will be finalising our migration and some of our customers may experience intermittent connectivity during these final hours.

We Thank You for your patronage and understanding.

Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Pamela at csm@netfirms.com.

We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience and frustration this has caused.

Cheers,

Netfirms Support Team
