Prince Edward County makes modest appearance at Gourmet Food and Wine Expo

The event brought us a divine mixture of food and wine flavours and we all agreed we’d do it again next year. It was the annual Gourmet Food and Wine Expo in Toronto, November 19-22, 2009.
Prince Edward County wines like those from Black Prince and the Grange made appearances in the Wines of Ontario kiosk near the centre of the hall. The savvy kiosk was emboldened by imagery from the LCBO’s recent “Go Local” campaign, which produced a series of photos of winemakers wearing white shirts and blue jeans, pictured in their vineyards. Caroline Granger of the Grange was the only woman among them (go Caroline!)
I was shocked to see almost all of the wines from Ontario were from Niagara. I was hoping for more of a presence from Prince Edward County than two wineries. (Maybe next year?)
We relished every morsel of the event. We were ecstatic over the cheese samples from Ivanhoe and Thornloe dairies, and can highly recommend our collective favourite ($3 cookies): le macaron.

Thanks for the plug Jennifer, much appreciated.
