H1N1 information as clear as mud
People must be literate, web-savvy problem-solvers to figure out the who, where and when of Swine Flu clinics.
Man, this Swine Flu stuff is confusing.
I sat with two press releases and the news wire stories this morning for over an hour and still didn’t feel confident I knew what was going on. No wonder people are saying they’re confused.
This morning, facing paperwork describing the expanded priority group lists from two separate local health units, plus their upcoming inoculation clinics, I’m feeling really bad for Joe Public.
Joe Public, who may not have Internet access nor be able to read or comprehend equations, is most likely at a loss. At least for him, there’s a toll-free phone number to call; but sadly, this automated phone line can send a caller through a tangled nest of commands that make him more confused than when he dialed.
This morning I did my best. I wrote six separate stories about H1N1, dividing up the information into smaller themes:
- Quinte region H1N1 clinics listing for Nov.16 – 20
- School based H1N1 clinics in Kawartha Pine Ridge district
- H1N1 guidelines for Hastings and Prince Edward Counties parents
- Expanded groups allow more people to be immunized against H1N1
- New definition of H1N1 priority group in Hastings and Prince Edward Counties
- New definition of H1N1 priority groups in Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District
Read these, and if you’re still confused… God help ya.
