The County’s a hotspot for events – even after Labour Day
Taste! A celebration of regional cuisine goes on across the parking lot from famous hockey player event
What an easy way to cover the news in Prince Edward County. One event is in the Crystal Palace while the other is across the parking lot in the arena. I couldn’t have asked for a better assignment.
On Saturday, the Taste the County destination marketing group hosted the 8th annual Taste! event. It’s t
he greatest collection of local wine and food all year. I’ve heard nothing but good feedback from this year’s event, so congratulations to all those who participated. I wrote a story for the radio and aired it on Sunday.
Knowing there was another newsworthy event happening in the Picton arena, I headed over there after Taste. It was about thirty paces, literally. Former NHL’er, Paul Henderson, was speaking to various groups throughout the weekend, starting that afternoon with young hockey players. Henderson is famous for having scored the “goal of the century” in the ’72 Russia-Canada game. He was very obliging and seemed thrilled to be in the County for the first time in 17 years.
What a great spot to be, with so many great events in the County – even after the rush of the summer is gone.
