These exciting times in which we live
When I was about ten, I stood in our kitchen and lamented to my mother that I didn’t live in exciting times. She said of course you do. I said not as exciting as you because you had inventions. She said there are still inventions today. I said not as exciting the tv set.
That was in the mid-80s, before I knew the Internet was coming, and the cultural shift that came with it.
How exciting for Canadians that in one week, we’ve seen President Barack Obama take office in the United States and watch our own Conservative federal government (seemingly) avoid an unprecidented take-over by a coaltion of its opposition.
Here’s how Canada’s 2009/10 budget looks, after being officially revealed today. (This is how the Conservatives deaked a take-over: by creating a friendlier budget.) Learn about it by checking out this coverage by the CBC and Toronto Star.
And for good measure, here’s that no-nonsense inauguration address by U.S. President, Barack Obama (including that funny little mishap with the oath of office).
I’ll let you know when I hear about Obama’s visit to Canada – his first trip abroad as president – planned for sometime in February!

Hey Jen! I was thinking the same thing just a week or so ago. Freaky times we live in! Check out my post on my blog about my thoughts on just what the heck we’re electing some one to do….
Cool blog! I’m set to start updating mine again since I returned from Canada and have my planning for school under control. I’ll check in!

I like how ‘cheese coalition’ comes up as a tag. Is that like a 4-cheese blend?
