The Regent Theatre Documentary

Submitted by Jennifer on October 30, 2008 – 11:41 amNo Comment

After agreeing to host the 90th anniversary gala at the Regent Theatre in Picton, I went directly to Napanee to meet freelance writer/producer, Dale Morrisey. We were meeting to get to know each other better and see if we might share some common professional goals. It can get lonely freelancing solo after a while!

We had a decent lunch and parted ways amicably. It was on the drive home that we each separately came to the same conclusion. Now’s the time to pursue something we’d both been itching to do: a Regent Theatre doc. Dale had most of the equipment and I had a drawer full of research from my days as a theatre student.

Since then, Dale and I have been traversing the Bloomfield-Bath corridor via the Glenora Ferry to collect research and footage for our doc. I’ve had the good pleasure and honour of interviewing the adult grandchildren of founders, George and Ellen Cook, and spending time in the historic Regent Theatre.

This will be the first made-for-tv documentary about the Regent Theatre in Picton. We expect it to be ready for release at the Regent anniversary gala.
